Teil 10: Die Kooperative Cecocesola reist mit uns nach Macuro

Part 10: The Cecocesola cooperative travels with us to Macuro

In the morning, we are greeted by five other people at the house and with breakfast from Marleen. The people from Cecocesola have arrived and have already completed about 20 hours of travel and still have about 24 hours ahead of them.
Since only David and I understand Spanish, everyone is still a bit hesitant. Or rather, in typical Venezuelan fashion, Lucas and Marleen immediately treat everyone like family.
The three daughters of one of the founders, along with her son-in-law and grandson, will accompany us to Marcuro next week.

This time, a friend is letting us use a really big house. It has two rooms, two bathrooms, and plenty of space for hammocks, so we can sleep under coconut palms, mango trees, and the starry sky.

Upon arrival, we are greeted with music, cake, cocoa and lovingly designed posters by Andrés and some other residents of Macuro.

Later, by the river, we have our first exchange over freshly cooked soup. What a treat.

In the coming days there will be several opportunities for open discussion rooms, lectures and exchanges with the people of the cooperative.
What Cecocesola has created is truly impressive.

Based on solidarity agriculture, a shared life, and many years of experience, the cooperative organizes cooperation among various agricultural producers, preventing the emergence of competition. There is no hierarchy, numerous discussion groups and exchanges, its own health care system, and now several of its own fairly and organically produced products.
Truly inspiring.

You can watch a video about the cooperative here.

Our idea was to inspire the farmers in Macuro and show that they can achieve anything through community, communication, and goodwill. This applies to Venezuela as well.
We enjoy spending time and interacting with the four adults and the charming little Andres. They accompany us to the harvest, want to learn more about our visions, and share their knowledge with the villagers three times.

All in all, my personal summary of the week is that ultimately, it requires the motivation, action, and will of the people of Macuro. We can only invite and inspire.

Cecocesola has invited people from Macuro to visit the cooperative, and we're excited to see how things develop. :)
